PRS cartridge is a strong cation exchange extraction column based on silica gel. The acidic group is propyl sulfonic acid (CSX), and the functional group is slightly lower than benzene sulfonic acid (CSX). PRS does not show weak polarity compared to SCX. In nonpolar solvents, PRS has polarity and hydrogen bonding. Because of its low pKa value, cationic compounds must be eluted through eluent with strong ionic strength or neutralize their charges. It can be used to extract weak cations, such as pyridine, and is also widely used in the sample pretreatment of malachite green.
