SCX sorbent has benzene sulfonic acid as a bonded functional group with a very low pKa. The presence of the benzene ring in the functional group increases its potential for non-polar interaction. The two properties are quite useful in the absorption of cationic organic compounds from aqueous systems where non-polar compounds are seen.

About GREEN MALL C8/SCX cartridge
This is a mixed SPE product composed of a C8 alkyl stationary phase and a strong cation exchange stationary phase SCX on a silica gel matrix, in an optimized ratio, providing a dual retention mechanism. C8 can interact with the hydrophobic part of the analyte, while SCX can interact with the Protonation amino part of the analyte. Due to the strong double interaction between the adsorbent and the analyte, it is allowed to use stronger washing solvents and washing conditions to remove the interfering substances adsorbed on the adsorbent.
